The Happy Place at BCC is designed to give children ages 5-15 with special needs an opportunity to learn about Jesus in a fun, accommodating and interactive environment! We are devoted to ACCEPT everyone they way God made them, ENCOURAGE spiritual growth and SUPPORT families with children with special needs within the body of Christ. Our kids get an opportunity to participate in praise and worship as well as learn bible stories through hands on activities and videos. They learn and memorize scripture all while interacting and socializing with other children their age. We also have an amazing team of Buddies who are invested in helping our kids grow and learn about Jesus.

How is The Happy Place at BCC staffed?
Staffing ratios are determined by our children’s needs but we aim to maintain a one-to-one ratio.
Who are the Buddies?
Our buddies are adults, young adults, and teens at Bethany Community Church who are invested in helping our enrolled children grow and learn about Jesus.
Are the volunteers trained?
All of our Buddies attend a mandatory training session where we cover program expectations, good practices, and information about our enrolled children. Our Buddies also spend a Sunday shadowing before they start volunteering.
What does a typical Sunday look like?
- Free Play
- Rug time, prayer, scripture memory games
- Introduce the lesson and worship
- Work through our video lesson
- Group activity and lesson review
- Memory verse review
How do I get my son/daughter enrolled?
First thing you want to do is fill out our First Time Visitor form above. We will then contact you about having your son or daughter join us on Sundays. In some cases, we may schedule a time to meet and discuss your child’s needs and make sure we can accommodate.
What type of disabilities can you accommodate?
We welcome participants with Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome, Developmental Disabilities, Neurological Disabilities and more! The Happy Place at BCC can serve individuals whom we can safely accommodate.
The Happy Place at BCC may not be able to accommodate all children, however, we will work to meet the needs of as many children and families as we can. We welcome participants with Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Developmental Disabilities, Neurological Disabilities and more. The Happy Place can serve individuals whom we can safely accommodate.
